Shots fired at Ann Arbor home while teens were sleeping inside, police say
Shots were fired at a second-floor bedroom of a home in the 100 block of North Glendale Drive on Ann Arbor's west side early Sunday, Ann Arbor police said.
Lt. Mark St. Amour said five shots were fired around 4:30 a.m. He said two 13-year-olds were sleeping in the room at the time, but no one was hit.
He said the teenagers were not home alone, but did not provide details on the other residents in the house.
St. Amour declined to comment on whether the residents of the home know the shooter, but he said the department has no suspects.
No further details were released today.

Ann Davis and other Glendale/Allenites, I was just thinking of a informal email list or message board to facilitate communication. If you are interested please email me at eric@ericsteckling.com

Hey Res-a-dent, Thanks for speaking to crazy van lady. You might have averted another police call or who knows what. I would be interested in a resident group. What do you propose?

Ann Davis, I'm sure you would like to know that I went out and spoke to the lady in the gray/white mini van regarding her incessant horn-honking that evening. She was unreceptive to my criticism but also didn't honk any more. Not to worry, the tenants moved out (to ypsi)and 111 Glendale already has a new owner who has already started cleaning it out. Would anyone be interested in a informal Glendale/Allen resident association?

Hi Anti thug, Did you see the police at the same house last night? They came just before sunset. Two patrolmen went to the door and another from a seperate unit hide behind a wall while to the two went to the door. Obviously they felt that threatened. After waiting for some time someone came to the door. They talked and the police left. They (police) returned later and some people from the house got into a red mini van with no plates and left, so did the police. They came back about six this morning so I would stay away, somethings going to go down.

I believe Ann Arbor hasn't had a pig probable like this street in over a decade I think that this little street is now even worst then anywhere in ypsi, sadly this will increases the murder rate if thing never change. the fact that Ann Arbor police is cutting down on on public safety is affecting this area and other poor areas.

Ann Davis, I think the AADP is sick of hearing from us cry over our safty. There are clildren on the block afraid too sleep in there beds. Because they feel like they are the next too be shot. Did not hear the horn blowning. But what is going to happen next?

Hi Breadman, Did you hear the commotion last night? The horn honking over and over and over again? It was at the house of the shooting. Someone in a newer grey/silver mini van would pull up lay on the horn for about ten minutes then drive around the block and do it again. Who ever it was even made a small african american girl get out of the van and knock while they layed on the horn. This went on for over an hour. A light did go on in the apartment but no one ever answered the door. What was so important that they had to do this? They (the occupants) obviously did not want to see the person in the van. The whole neighborhood must have heard it. I waited for it to escalate but they must've thought someone might call police and left.

Ann Davis: You can look up property owners on the internet. I refuse to move too give the others the advantage. It we need to, stick together and have the two streets cleaned up. Futher more under the law, if a unit is called on from the law enforcement team the owner get a notice. What happened to that. Contact section 8 with address and the reason of complain. I personal know someone on section 8 just lost it, becuuse law enforcement was called too many times on that address. I am working on one right now about a drug dealer in the area. But AAPD does not care or you call to say there are here and they have a no show in the area that is in AAPD. I even have minors from Glendale/Allen circle down too buy. Where are the Parents???

I'm with you LA and breadman. I've only lived on "Glendale Ghetto" for less than six months and I'm ready to move. This shooting is just the beginning. I counted 9 broken down cars in driveways on Glendale and Allen. Inspectors don't care. Police patrols are none exsitant. Houses have trash in doorways, trees and shrubs are overgrown and screen doors flap in the wind. Raggedy furniture sits out on porches and junk sits in yards. And of course this invites the criminal element becase they can see that no one cares about the neighborhood so they're free to do what they want. AnnArbor.com should do a photo essay.

@antithug yes shootings are rare in ann arbor especially when compared to detroit. but people need to realize that no town is perfect... and no it hasn't been 5 years since the last shooting or killing. sometimes you won't hear about it if it is in self defense though.

The house doesn't have any holes in it, so I'm not sure what they were shooting at. Sounded like a large cal. Semi-auto handgun. Arbor eats, if you are looking for someone to blame, try avalon housing or the slum lords who foreclosed on that duplex.

I agree with La! As a resident by the Glendale/Allen circle when I moved in longer than 7 years ago. It was not that bad. Property owners are just moving anybody in to fulfil there bills. I have lived in this general area for 41 years. And it was never liked this. AAPD has now a job security on both of them streets. I see it. I hear it. And wonder who will be killed next??

There are good people and families living on the N. Glendale/Allen street. The few problem makers are ruining the whole block. I lived there for 7 years and still live nearby.

North Glendale is notorious for crime. (Look it up.) When are the cops going to clean up or rather clean out that block?! It is a threat to the surrounding neighborhood.

Edward Vielmetti - Thanks very much for locating the information on the 2007 shooting so quickly. Do you have any information surrounding the motive or circumstances of that shooting? The sentences don't seem all that onerous for such a serious crime. I'm curious as I, too, live sort of in that area and I'm wondering what the events were that ended in such dramatic, and almost lethal, fashion.

@ justwondering, you are thinking of the corner of gott and miller. the house in question is a rental and the shots were fired on the property, around the house. I'd be curious to find out what happened as well since I live in the area.

This is more than a little disturbing. I'm looking forward to reading any updates you may have as this progresses. Also, I'm wondering if you can provide an update to another shooting that occurred on Ann Arbor's west side. It was about two to four years ago, sometime in the winter (I believe there was snow on the ground). It was on the north side of Miller Avenue at the intersection of Gott, I believe (it's possible it was one block east or west of Gott), at the house on the corner. I don't recall reading any follow ups to that story in the old print edition. Was that crime ever solved?
