Ann Arbor police search for 3 men following robbery

Updated story: 4 arrested, 2 sought in Ann Arbor jewelry store robbery
Ann Arbor police are searching for three men following a robbery at Schlanderer & Sons jeweler on Main Street in Ann Arbor just after 2:30 p.m.
According to a University of Michigan police crime alert, the men were seen running near Main and Madison streets and may be armed.
No further information was immediately available. Ann Arbor Police Chief Barnett Jones could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.

@talia...beat cops are a preventive measure...and yes, they are a deterrent if ghetto-mentality thugs see them on the streets. And yes I would have felt much safer coming into work this morning had there been beat cops. And a security guard? Hope he's gonna be okay, but what law enforcement and/or SWAT training did he go through to get his job? So until you've had someone stick a gun in your face, don't tell me that beat cops only make us feel safer...unless you know more about the actions and thoughts of these scumbags than you are letting us know.

Robert m I'm so sure beat cops would have stopped this from happening. Come on! Like they would have gotten there any faster than the patrol cars did and I'm sure the beatcops would also be marathon runners and probably run to the Ows faster than the patrol cars too. Beat cops only make citizens feel safer, they cannot stop criminals from committing crimes. If u don't believe it ask the security guard from Ypsilanti who was just beaten by three men while on foot patrol.

Okay, got more info. Mind y'all, it's all from community sources (people around where I live, which, like I said, is the house where Hill ends at Main). The police were looking through the area around Mosley because that's where their original getaway vehicle crashed. The police were interviewing people who had seen which way they ran after that. An employee at one of the businesses at Main and Madison said they saw four african american males run past and that person reported to police that at least one of them had a firearm. No word on what kind of gun it was. This same eyewitness who reported this to the police reported that they heard the police mention that the suspects weren't from "around here". Not sure what that's supposed to mean.

I think all clear in this case means they are not in the U of M area anymore - it sounds like they are in the old west side area now.

I'm SURE this is all a mistake. They probably spent the morning volunteering at a local church and after a morning of wholesome fun decided to stop by Studio 4 for some lemonade. Upon learning of the unfortunate closing of the fine establishment they were sidetracked while walking back to their Prius. While inside the jewelry store, one of the upstanding citizens noticed how closely the finish of the Rolex matched his chrome plated revolver and decided to show the owner. The owner then mistook this for a robbery- thus scaring off 3 prospective new customers. This will all be confirmed after the arrest when the mother or auntee is interviewed and affirms that their boo is a good boy and this unfortunate incident will be resolved and life can retirn to normal in the wonderful world of A2. Have a nice day.

I just got a call from U-Ms Emergency Alert system. They gave the all-clear on this, so that leads me to believe they caught the robbers.

I live in the house where Hill ends at Main. There are police on foot with K9's all over the place. Apparently, the dudes ran to the home of someone they knew over on Mosley to hide, but those ppl kicked them out and called the cops. Haven't heard any gunshots yet.

This is all hearsay, but I've been told the police have chased them to the neighborhood behind the Knob Hill Apartments. They are going from yard to yard trying to flush the suspects out.
