Downtown Chelsea Farmers' Market to open Saturday
The Saturday Downtown Chelsea Farmers' Market will open for the season Saturday in the Chelsea District Library parking lot.
Stephanie Doll, the market master, says there will be fresh produce, meats, eggs, plants, flowers and artisan-crafted items during regular market hours from 8 a.m. to noon, through October.
This season also brings the return of live music and other new events, she said in a press release.
Sponsored by the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, the market features a large group of full-season vendors that include Back Forty Acres, Heim Gardens, Merkel Gardens, Ruhlig’s Produce, Stone Hearth Bakery and Tantre Farm.
Also expected to be in attendance are Eby’s City Farm, Frog Holler Farms, Kapnick Orchards and TART-Artisan Bakery.
In addition to the full-season vendors, day vendors also provide a variety of locally produced fresh foods along with hand-crafted artisan products such as jewelry, soaps and lotions, hand dyed and spun yarn, wood crafts, furniture and more.
This year, the market plans to communicate with its customers through the use of email and social media sites, Doll said, and those interested in staying in the loop should email coordinator@chelseafarmersmkt.org.
The market is located in a parking lot off Park Street east of Main Street. For more Chelsea stories, visit our Chelsea page.
