We Are the 99 Percent: Chelsea to hold assembly meeting Thursday
By Lisa Allmendinger
We Are The 99 Percent: Chelsea will host an assembly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chelsea District Library.
The meeting follows a vigil held at the corner of M-52 and Old US-12 on Nov. 17 in support of the Occupy Wall Street national day of protest.
Anyone interested in the movement is welcome to attend, according to an email from Colleen Verge.

It is interesting to see how many assumptions commenters make. All of the participants in the Chelsea-area group are employed or retired from productive jobs. We want to promote an economic system that reduces inequality, and is based on fairly-paid work. We have had good turnouts for our curb-side vigil and again for the meeting last evening on Thursday evening.

The 99% of What? Deadbeats that bought homes they couldn't afford? The new welfare state called unlimited unemployment benefits. Students that wanted to study at our bastions of liberalisms then not want to repay their student loans? Actually all you are is 99% of the problem. If you want a job don't sit around and draw a check for 99 weeks and then when it runs out cry for more. Us that are paying for all your free stuff are tired of paying for your free stuff. Cause we would like our own stuff we work for. Get it?

Freemind: The "free" bailout was wrong and shold have been repaid. However the 99% group's message indicates that the money these organization make is wrong and that it should be re-distributed. ffej: You are correct that the wealthy have tax writeoffs that help the greatly reduce their tax debt. Income generated above a set amount should be taxed at the same rate for everyone. Households with incomes below a specified level should be allowed to have tax deductions for children. Wage earners without children do not have the extreme added expense of food, daycare, clothing, medical, school, etc. However if your income is substantially high, you should be able to afford these expenses. If you have some trouble feeding and clothing you children, then sell the multi-million dollar mansion and purchase a normal size house. This will help save for the necessary expenses.

@ffej440- If you are paying 30% federal tax rate, then you might be awfully close to being a 1 percenter.

BK- So what does this have to do with me working at a 30% tax rate , while the 1% pays only 15% on paper income ? Or how about social security not being adjusted for three years while the cost of living kept going up ? I could go on with all the complaints of us 99%, but it would be better for you to inform yourself. Try news that is not FOX. You are paying for free stuff, just not to who you think!

you demonstrate a clear misunderstanding of the protests. It's not just " Students that wanted to study at our bastions of liberalisms then not want to repay their student loans" it's "regular" people like you who disapprove of the welfare that goes to wall street. If you have a problem with people receiving undue support, look no further than the bank bailouts that were pushed by the Federal Reserve, which just happens to be filled with former CEO's of big time wall street firms, i.e. the 1%.

BK: Fine post! Try not to worry too much as fewer than 5 Chelsea types will show up - everybody busy trying to break into the 1% club like I am!

Why are these people supporting the "Occupy Crowd" who are trying take away food, shelter and other benefits from the Poor and Homeless? They should be ashamed of themselves!

I think you need to find out what Occupy is about and quit watching fox news.
