Classes canceled today at two Washtenaw County schools

By AnnArbor.com Staff

This story has been updated with an additional closure.

Two Washtenaw County schools are closed today due to the weather and road conditions, while about 300 schools called off classes in the Metro Detroit area.

Those closed locally are Fortis Charter Academy in Ypsilanti Township and Washtenaw Christian Academy. Spiritus Sanctus Academy north of Ann Arbor is opening at 10 a.m.

On Monday, every one of Washtenaw County's public school districts closed due to the weather. More than 4 inches of snow came down Sunday, and when combined with wind and subzero temperatures, it created hazardous driving conditions.

The cold continues today, with temperatures hovering around 6 degrees at 5:45 a.m.

All Heritage Academies are closed today. Take a look a local television website. Otherwise, the rest of Washtenaw is open.

The morning TV news listed 2 other Washtenaw schools were closed besides Fortis including Washtenaw Christian Academy and another. So there are currently 3 Washtenaw schools closed today.
