Man charged in ATM robberies in Pittsfield Township held on $150,000 bond
A man accused of committing two robberies at ATMs in Pittsfield Township over the weekend and an attempted robbery Monday at an ATM in Saline is being held on a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
Brentson Charles McIntire, 30, of Saline Township, was arraigned this afternoon at the Washtenaw County Jail on a charge of attempted robbery and two counts of armed robbery.

Pittsfield Township police said McIntire robbed a man Saturday night at the Chase Bank ATM at 6957 East Michigan Ave. and a man Sunday night at the Chase Bank ATM at 4101 Ellsworth Road. Both victims were in their cars at the time, police said.
Investigators said McIntire was arrested Monday as he was preparing to rob a customer an an ATM at United Bank and Trust on North Maple Road in Saline. Officers responded to the bank about 7:30 p.m. after receiving a credible tip. As an officer approached McIntire, he ran, police said, ditching a BB pistol and mask in a wooded area nearby.
Police said they lost sight of McIntire, who got into a car being driven by a family member. Saline police located the car along Austin Road and took McIntire into custody, Pittsfield Township Deputy Police Chief Gordy Schick said. McIntire's relative was not involved in the attempted robbery, Schick said.
Pittsfield Township police detectives assisted with Monday's arrest. Detectives were on heightened alert because of the two robberies at ATMs in the township over the weekend and were conducting surveillance on several ATMs Monday night.
As McIntire was being interviewed Monday, he led investigators to the BB gun and mask, Schick said. The BB gun is believed to have been used in both robberies in Pittsfield Township, and the mask is believed to have been worn during Saturday's robbery in the township, police said.
At today's arraignment, McIntire told Magistrate Camille Horne that he is separated, has one child and works as a handyman in a Saline area mobile home community. He makes about $550 each month, he said.
McIntire is scheduled to return to court Oct. 13 for a preliminary hearing.

Some people commenting here apparently know this young man personally. I thank them for adding their information to what would otherwise be a "routine robbery report." It's sad and it's also the kind of story that could turn out tragically. If McIntyre's desperation drove him to commit these "apparently armed" robberies, then if he'd been killed by an armed victim it would have doubled the tragedy of an already tragic situation. Can't help but observe: this is also connected to the lack of suitable jobs for people like this. It's stone-hearted to suggest that McIntyre's the one who failed when there are millions of educated and trained Americans who have lost everything and still aren't back to work.

Richard yes it is side effects on his face, and I hope they do give him the help he needs,instead of letting him just sit in jail, the kid is not a bad kid, it is realy sad what drugs can do to a person, my heart is breaking for him.and his family, and has a son that he adores but the drugs got the best of him, hopefully he gets the help he needs and can see his son againI know more about the situation, then anyone commenting. and the kid in the picture is not the kid I know. He never wouldhave done something like this if drugs were not involved. It just makes me hurt.

Crystal Meth is one of the nastier drugs to come down the line. It does terrible things to people and alters their mind worse than any other drug we've known. Young people are experimenting with fire when they try it "just once". Small towns as well as large are dealing with this hideous drug. There are good documentaries that people can rent to get educated about this. I too hope he finds a way to get free from it.

No he is not a kid and I never said he wasn't responsible for his actions, I just hope he gets the help he needs, the kid I know never would of done this. without an altered mind. Drugs just make you out of controll after a while and desperate for them.

TSK TSK how judgmental! That could just be acne cause by poor nutrition not just from poor hygiene be it drug related or not. He could've just been hard up and needed to buy some ProActiv so he can get back on the dating circuit! Ffej440, obviously you have not walked around the streets of Ann Arbor with your eyes open. I see help wanted signs all over the place. Speedway has signs at every station. AATA is hiring bus drivers at $24 an hour. Anyone can get a job at any of the 15 cab companies in this town. I am so sick an tired of people defending panhandlers, sofa bound unemployment check collectors, and now CRIMINALS. based on completely false information about the state of employment in this city. Enough is enough!
