By Kyle Feldscher

A handgun in a duffel bag was stolen from a car parked on a street in broad daylight Wednesday in Superior Township, sheriff’s deputies said.

The theft occurred between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 9000 block of MacArthur Boulevard, police said. The victim told police the trunk of the car was open because the victim was moving from an apartment and the duffel bag was stolen while the victim was away, police said.

The victim had a permit for the handgun, police said.

No arrests have been made at this time and police are still looking for suspects.

Moving to or from a place, on or off the U-M campus, thefts like this can occur. Not firearm theft, but theft nonetheless.

It makes me shutter to put myself in his position. I pray that nothing nefarious happens with the stolen weapon. This would be a nightmare to me.

Wow, that was fast, within 45 minutes the gun was gone. Was the permit just for the gun, or carry? Can't trust anyone around a duffel bag or back pack. Sad!
