Man escapes robbery attempt outside Ann Arbor apartment

By Kyle Feldscher

A 33-year-old Ann Arbor man managed to fend off an attempted robbery outside his apartment while his young son looked on, according to police.

The man parked his car at about 6:15 p.m. Friday at a carport in the 3500 block of Green Brier Boulevard in the GreenBrier Apartments and was exiting the vehicle when a man approached him from behind, according to Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush.

The man grabbed the father’s computer bag, which held a Dell laptop, and attempted to rip it away, Bush said.

The suspect was unable to pry the bag away from the father and ran to a vehicle parked about 100 feet away, Bush said. The suspect then drove away in an unknown direction, she said.

The father and his son managed to escape the incident unharmed, Bush said.

The suspect is described as black, in his 20s, with a medium complexion, about six feet tall, between 180 and 185 pounds with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head, Bush said.

Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged the call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939.

Was he wearing a hoodie just because of Trayvon? Or was he just trying to help hide his face so he couldn't be ID'd in a police lineup?

Good Job to the Father, Glad to see that both father and son were unharmed. Sorry to hear the son had to see this struggle.

When hoodies are outlawed, only outlaws will have hoodies.
