By the way, yes, nice picture of the back of a white male in his mid twenties wearing what thousands are likely wearing daily.

To all of you saying there should be cameras everywhere, it's sad, but that is the current state of most if not all large cities. Public parks and other public high traffic areas are under 24/7 surveillance, both video and audio in some cases. Makes you feel real trusted doesn't it? If you want to catch drunk college kids kicking doors, because that does seem to be a huge re-ocurring problem in the AA area, then don't get them drunk...oh wait....that's their choice....and alcohol is a legal drug...whoa!

Cameras everywhere, eh? Reminds me to read the opening of "Fahrenheit 451" again.

To be clear, he didn't kick the door down. That's a big heavy door. He kicked out a panel on the door.

Nice clear picture Andrew, but I don't think I would have wanted my name posted. Remember he is still on the loose.

This is another example of why Ann Arbor should have security cameras throughout town. The fortuitous action of the cellphone photographer may help the authorities identify the alleged criminal, but a high-tech monitoring system can also more quickly identify the culprit and also secure evidence against him.

I agree with Vick. This incident actually shows that things are fine as they are.

For those wondering how he kicked in an outward-swinging door....look closely and you'll see he knocked in one of the panels of the door not the whole door. Still pretty impressive. Based on description and time of the infraction my keen detective skills surmise it is likely the work of a college kicked whacked out of his gourd. Also, a college campus is NOT the place to commit a crime nowadays as everybody walking around has a cameraphone and is all too eager to use it!! Nice work getting the picture Andrew.....although I'm not so sure I'd want my name published in case this nut finds my front door and starts playing footsie again.

Yes, with the pictures it is much easier to see how he did it. They weren't there before. This story is nice, and reading up on the Michigan League and looking at its evolution over the years, I could kick myself for not taking advantage of it several times. I take many of my out of town visitors to the UM's natural history museum - it's always an interesting place to go - and then to lunch. Now I find out that about a block away we could have lunch right at the Michigan League. Next time, I'll try it.

Since I'm a Badger, I had to look up the Michigan League - and I am quite impressed with its history and size. It's a lot of building for $600,000 plus $150,000 for furnishings. A buck sure went farther back in the old days, and it probably has a lot more finely crafted woodwork instead of plastic laminates of today. I doubt the architecture style would pass muster today, it is a bit on bulky side, but still impressive. It's hard to believe a person could kick in a door as well made and sturdy as the League's probably are - based on the style, unless it wasn't the main entrance door.

Also, if the door was an external access, per fire code it should swing out, making kicking it in that much more difficult. Maybe good that no bystander attempted to apprehend
