Man punches bouncer outside Ann Arbor bar
Ann Arbor police said they arrested a man early Sunday morning after he was urinating outside Conor O'Neills and punched a bouncer who confronted him about it.
About 1:43 a.m., a bouncer at Conor O'Neills at 318 South Main Street confronted the man who was urinating on the side of a building, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.
That's when the man punched the bouncer in the neck and ran, Bush said. Officers responded, chased down the 24-year-old Ann Arbor man and arrested him. Police said the 21-year-old bouncer, who is from Canton, had red marks on his neck.

At 1:43am., its close to closing time. Where was the police at to catch the guy? If they were this close, why wasn't this tactic ever used for Studio 4? Will there now be outcry's to close Conor O' Neills since an assault took place? Oh, sorry right. Main St. bar frequent by a different clientele/patrons.

Was there a point to that? The two bars are a half block apart. What tactic would be different?

Was he charged with both offenses? The urinating in public charge could turn into a reportable offense to the sex offender registry.

Show me one person on the sex registry that is there for urinating in public. There is no mention of him doing anything other than urinating. So regarless of what could have been said, it wasn't. Urinating is urinating. And that alone will not make you a sex offender.

@noway, recent articles on A2.com suggest otherwise. Those articles get a lot of hits, they involve a licensed professional and a complainant that alleges "it appears as". If this bouncer or another individual were to say it "appears as", then it could be charged as more than urinating in public.

Wrong he would need prior convictions and something that makes it aggravated indecent exposure. Just urinating alone won't put you of the registry.

It most certainly is, depending on who was watching and what they say you were doing.

Urinating in public is not a crime that one would have to register on the sex offender list. Otherwise you'd have a lot of homeless and drunk college kids on that list.

Puts new and darker meaning into the phrase: "beer isnt owned, it's only rented".

This is sort of a Man Bites Dog news story. Usually the bouncer is the puncher.

There is no side of the building for the entire block. The man was either urinating in front of the bar, bad idea, or behind the bar which in my opinion would have been the better locale.

I wonder if the bouncer told him "Its my way or the highway"? Sorry, I just had to get the Swayze/Roadhouse reference somewhere near this story.

So that's why it always seems like beer and urine as you pass by O'Neills! Back in the day, when smoking was allowed, you had the triple treat of smoke/pee/beer.
