Masked gunman robs Burger King in Pittsfield Township

By Lee Higgins

A masked man jumped a counter and robbed a Burger King in Pittsfield Township at gunpoint Wednesday night, township police said.

At 10:14 p.m., the man entered the restaurant at 6190 West Michigan Ave., jumped the counter, pulled a black handgun on a cashier and demanded money, a police news release said.

After the 21-year-old male cashier handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the man left the scene. No one was injured, the release said.

The suspect was described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a gray jacket, green pants, black shoes and a black ski mask. Police said he may have left in a vehicle.

Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at 734-822-4958.

people are finding out that Pittsfield Township is not very safe, the crime continues to climb at alarming rates---I think there was just a millage vote for the police dept and it passed---more money is not working-----I don't see very many traffic stops--which always produces good results, ie--felons removed from the streets , through finding out they have outstanding warrants for their arrest---a great possibility of finding drugs, guns---stolen property--etc--can't find that stuff, unless someone is stopped---That was the trademark of the Michigan State Police, until local police depts decided they could better serve the people ----- the money for the State Police went away---and now we are all seeing the results---neighborhoods, that are less safe---

The safest place is one unarmed. Proof positive that a cop is too heavy to carry.

Desperate criminals do desperate things. (this just goes to show, officers don't just sit in the station).

FYI, this Burger King is literally right across the street from the Public Safety facilities in Pittsfield which houses a fire station and police station! This guy must have been gusty, desperate, crazy (take your pick) to pull this off right under the noses of law enforcement!
