Officers arrest man fleeing from Ann Arbor Golf & Outing Club after attempted burglary

By Lee Higgins

Ann Arbor police said a man was arrested early this morning after he attempted to break into the clubhouse at the Ann Arbor Golf & Outing Club on East Stadium Boulevard, where officers were in a parking lot taking a meal break.

At 3:40 a.m., officers were in a patrol car when they heard a crashing noise at the clubhouse, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.

Police saw a man wearing a white shirt and white baseball cap running west across the golf course, Bush said. Officers found damage to a screen on a window that was believed to have been caused after a metal bench was thrown at it. Police also found that someone attempted to kick in a door at the clubhouse.

Officers radioed in their findings to dispatch, and officers found the 21-year-old Holt man near railroad tracks behind the University of Michigan police station on Kipke Drive, Bush said.

University police and Ann Arbor police made the arrest. Charges are pending.

And to think how often we demonize cops for eating donuts in parked patrol cars.

Great catch U police and Ann Arbor police. Several times I have seen police leave their meal due to a call while in an eatery. I also have seen the same with County Road employees, DTE, Comcast, ect. just parked off the side of the road. (to relax and have a meal) probably fast food. Earlier this summer, a tree cutting company truck was parked down the road here having lunch. A member of my family stopped by them and ask if they could re-rope my extremely tall flag pole. They were here in a few minutes and hung my USA Flag and Marine Flag. They were Marines, (no charge). When I need trees trimmed or cut, I will call this company.

That kind of stuff might work in Holt but not in AA. This crook from OUT OF TOWN is done terrorizing local duffers.

All I can say is.....FORE....to 15 years. And we all know the vast wealth of items held in a golfing facility in November in Michigan....or was the alleged perp just puttering around?

"I'll wear all white so as to blend in with the possible snow showers; my escape route goes right behind the campus police station, mwha, ha ha, they will NEVER expect to find me there"! I'm actually glad that so many criminally minded people aren't terribly clever, it's very reassuring.
