One arrested after two break-ins in Salem Township

By Kyle Feldscher

A 24-year-old Canton man was arrested Wednesday by the Northfield Township Police Department after being found with materials stolen from a home under renovation in Salem Township.

Police said Northfield Township officers were investigating a complaint of a suspicious person when they found the man, who had materials from the home in the 8000 block of Chubb Road.

Sheriff’s office deputies assisted in the investigation. The case has been submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The man's name and photo will not be released until he has been arraigned on any charges.

Meanwhile, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating an attempted break-in that occurred about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 7300 block of Currie Road in Salem Township.

Police said a window had been broken and a door was open at the residence but nothing was reported stolen. No suspect information was available Thursday afternoon.

It is unknown if the two incidents are related.

Anyone with information on either incident is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711.
