Pittsfield Township man convicted of sexually assaulting young boy faces child porn charges
A man who admitted in court last month that he sexually assaulted a young boy in Pittsfield Township was arraigned this afternoon at the Washtenaw County Jail on child pornography charges.
Michael Lloyd Sylvester, 23, of Pittsfield Township, is charged with using a computer to commit a crime and three counts of possessing child sexually abusive material.
On Feb. 17, Sylvester pleaded guilty in Washtenaw County Court to second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a child under age 13, court records show. Pittsfield Township police say Sylvester sexually assaulted the boy in August 2010 at a township home, according to court documents.

During Sylvester's arraignment this afternoon, Magistrate Thomas Truesdell said he would appoint a public defender to represent Sylvester. Truesdell set bond at $5,000 cash or surety.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 27, and Sylvester is scheduled to be sentenced in the sexual assault case three days later.

Low bonds and no nothing sentences are just business as usual in washtenaw county courts. It wouldn't shock me if he were to get PROBATION at his sentence.

Since he's already been convicted of the assault, it wouldn't do much good for him to run.

Actually it would. If he has been convicted and KNOWS he is going to prison when would there be a better time to leave the country or jurisdiction? Why should he be free until sentencing? He has already been convicted. When this comes up at sentencing it should make the sentencing more severe, but facing years in prison as a child pornographer might make this guy split ASAP. $5000 is not very much money to lose.
