Suspect arrested after Pittsfield Township woman reports being raped near her home Wednesday
A 19-year-old Pittsfield Township woman reported she was raped on a picnic bench where she was talking with a man on Packard Road she knew near her home Wednesday evening, according to police.
Pittsfield Township Deputy Police Chief Gordy Schick said the man and woman were sitting on a picnic bench near a home on Crystal Drive when the 32-year-old man asked the victim for sex. The victim refused, and the man allegedly pulled down her pants and forced himself on her.
The suspect and the victim live together in a group home, Schick said.
Schick said the victim immediately ran home and called police, who arrived at about 5:45 p.m. Pittsfield Township police arrested the man without major incident, Schick said.
The suspect was been taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. The victim was been taken to an area hospital for a medical exam. She was not battered during the incident, Schick said.

The victim was not battered? I call this worse than being battered, and it was so cold outside. Glad she was able to run home and call the police. Hope the man spent the night in jail, maybe still there.

Sense you say that they were in a group home, are they competent to stand trial.
