Police: Host of Super Bowl party punches guest in head
A woman was punched in the head Sunday night by a man as she was thanking him for hosting a Super Bowl party at his home in the 500 block of Packard Street, Ann Arbor police said.
The 22-year-old Dundee woman reported the assault at 2 p.m. Monday, then went to a doctor to get checked out because her head was hurting, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.
Police said a 23-year-old man is believed to be responsible. It was not clear why the man punched her, although a witness told police that the man was intoxicated at the time.
Bush said she didn't know what time the assault occurred or what accounted for the delay in reporting it. So far, no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

Reference the OTHER article yesterday which proposes that the annual Super Bowl events "unify" people. Hah!! But seriously: any violent act directed at a woman is wrong, just wrong - and illegal. In this case, a simple: "Get the heck outta my house!" would have sufficed. I hope the perpetrator comes forth and owns up.

Strange, but no one said anything about what might have happened to him. There is always TWO sides to a story, and why did she wait until there were no witnesses to report the story??... "There is a good reason and a real reason for everything", my grandpa used to say. She would have us believe that he just hauled off and hit her for absolutely no reason? Did he punch everyone at his party, or just her?

These one sided stories are stupid. Maybe they should ask the man who supposedly punched her his side of the story. Drunk or not there is no excuse for just hauling off and punching someone.

Obviously you care, because you not only read it, you took the time to post a comment. If it was so boring, why click it?

Nothing says "You're welcome!" like a punch to the head. Wow!

Perhaps they were both intoxicated...I find it best to stay home and watch the games on TV. Hard to go to a party of this type without drugs and booze all around.

"Hard to go to a party of this type without drugs and booze all around." I'm guessing you need a whole new group of friends.

I've only been to one Super Bowl party and that was good fun because it was a group of non drinkers and we just watched the game, ate good food and good fun ribbing each other about who was cheering for which team. Other than that one time I'm like you RJA, just stay at home.

Again... I just don't get it. Are we not teaching our kids to NEVER hit women? I don't care if you're drunk or not, have some self control and do not hit anyone, let alone a woman. Boggles my mind how men think they can just hit women.

To those of you who can't read, let me quote what I said...."I don't care if you're drunk or not, have some self control and do not hit anyone, let alone a woman." Note: "do not hit anyone" @kraiford12 - There will be very unique cases where defending yourself at all costs becomes necessary. However, this wasn't an argument about defending ones self, but rather of a woman getting hit in the head by a man. Defending yourself is a different story altogether.

The bigotry of the old guard showing through mighty fine. How about don't hit anyone, ever, and stop making women seem like a weaker underclass.

I hit a woman once... ... after she struck me 5-7 times in the face with her feet while we were traveling down I-94. I disagree with NEVER hit a woman, or anyone. If they are hitting you, and you need to defend yourself (or others) DO IT!

Never hit women? How about never hit anyone, that goes for children and old people too if thats not clear enough.

@JGS, you are totally right on target. Some of these guys use being drunk as an excuse, "Oh, Sorry I was drunk." As you said no excuse for hitting a woman anytime.
