U-M hospital employee reports inappropriate touching by patient

University of Michigan police are investigating a report of an employee at the University of Michigan Hospital being touched inappropriately by a patient Saturday afternoon.

According to the university’s daily crime report, the incident was not reported to police until 4:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

University of Michigan Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown was not available to speak about the incident Wednesday evening.

No further information was available about the incident Wednesday. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the department’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-863-1355.

Something happened Saturday. We're not sure what, but it was reported Tuesday. When we called the spokeswoman, it went to voicemail. We don't know anything else, but if you do, call the U-M DPS.

I question the fact that it took 3 days to report the incident. It would have taken me 3 minutes to call 911 or security. It certainly doesn't help police in their investigation.

Maybe because it's shocking, you don't know if you'll be believed, you don't know if you'll get fired, you don't know if the abuser will get a lawyer who will help turn things around and blame the victim....
