Woman hit with bottle at the Blue Leprechaun in Ann Arbor

By Lee Higgins

A woman suffered a cut below her eye after being hit with a bottle that was thrown early Sunday morning at the Blue Leprechaun, a bar at 1220 South University Ave., Ann Arbor police said.

Officers responded to the emergency room at University of Michigan Hospital and interviewed the woman who reported that she did not see who threw the bottle.

The cut required stitches. Police said the woman was assaulted at about 1 a.m. and drove home before going to the hospital.

Anyone with information can call the police department's confidential tip line at (734) 794-6939.

How long did it take for police to show up at the U hospital for this assault?

Never been there, but it seems like somebody should know who threw the bottle. I hope somebody will speak up soon. This woman could have lost her eye. (and this is serious)

This is a serious assault. I can't for the life of me figure out why the police were not called at the time of the incident. Did everyone just brush it off as no big deal? Do the people who run this place condone this stuff? The bar scene in Ann Arbor must have changed radically over the years.

I used to hang out here when it was Touchdown Cafe. Of the bars on South U it always seemed to attract a rowdier crowd....not sure if it was the combination of frat boys and street urchins or what.... I preferred Mitch's.
