Woman's teeth broken in assault at Ann Arbor party

By Lee Higgins

Ann Arbor police said a woman hit her face on a bathtub and broke two teeth after a man shoved her at a party early Sunday.

The 20-year-old woman was washing her hands in a bathroom at 2 a.m. at a party in the 200 block of South 4th Avenue, when a man she met at the party entered and closed the door, police spokeswoman Lt. Renee Bush said.

The man shoved her, causing her to fall and hit her face on the bathtub, Bush said. It's unclear why the woman was assaulted.

Police said the woman went to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where police responded 7 hours later after being called by hospital staff. So far, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information can call the police department's tip line at (734) 794-6939.

what a tough guy, pushing women down in a bathroom. I'd hate to see this guy when he gets mad at another man. Imagine what he might do then. seems like a really scary guy. we should all run and hide. or maybe the coward will try something like this again and get what he has coming to him.

This guy isn't tough enough to engage another guy. I'd use the word "man" but he isn't one. H's just a wimp who picks on women.

OUCH! Until it is clear why the man pushed her, we won't know. (probably during a Super Bowl party) My thought is the woman will be able to identify the man. (maybe) Hospital staff are good about calling police when they find that perhaps a crime has been committed. It has not been said when she entered the hospital, but 7 hours later sounds a bit long.

If it was a Super Bowl party that is some heavy pre-game partying, considering the incident happened at 2:00 am on Sunday morning.

200 block of S. 4th? Are there apartments above the businesses on that block?

Yes there are, but I find it hard to believe that activity would be tolerated. Doesn't say whether it was on the east side or the west side of the street or if in an apartment or a space rented for a party.

This is a shame. I am sorry for the young woman and for the person who felt the need to push her, if that is what happened.
