A business located in the 10 block of West Forest Avenue also was entered overnight. Police were notified of the break-in at 7:30 a.m. Suspects reportedly broke a window to gain entry and took a television.
At 8 a.m., a breaking and entering was reported in the 700 block of West Michigan Avenue. The rear door was forced open and a cash register was missing.
The fifth break-in was reported at 9 a.m. in the 1700 block of Washtenaw Avenue. An unknown suspect entered the window and took cash, according to police.
"At this point we don't know that they are (related)," said Ypsilanti police Sgt. Brent Yuchasz.
The Ypsilanti Police Department doesn’t have a suspect or suspects at this time, but it continues to investigate.

YPD may be short handed but it's a culture of self-pity and poor leadership that plagues the department. Their officers are well paid, still have a pension as compared to most departments. Great benefits and although this newspaper likes to paint Ypsilanti as the Detroit of Washtenaw County, we all know its not that bad. YPD needs a new police chief and a new mindset that stresses new trends in criminal justice like crime mapping, writing reports in the patrol car so that their officers remain visible instead of in the station all the time, directed patrols, community policing and most importantly respect for their citizens. Chief Walker is a bust, time to go..... Then again why make a change when we all know the Washtenaw County Sheriff's office is going to be the police department in Ypsilanti in the very near future.

The reason the names of the businesses weren't listed in the story is that Ypsilanti police did not provide them. The information released by police didn't have an exact address of where the break-ins occurred, either, just the block. This could possibly be because the incidents are still under investigation.

Poor YPD, over worked and under paid. We need a real Mayor in Ypsilanti so we can get more Police and Fire Fighters on the streets. You go YPD.

Chase does not give you that option. Push and take out. All you have to do is remember to put it in your wallet. So sad to hear, but it happens.

IDK, I left my debit card in the ATM at CharterOne on Michigan Ave and it was taken. The thief spent money at Puffer Red's, a Best Buy in Dearborn, and some other stores. Puffer Red's had video, and YPD...a few blocks away...kept telling me that they didn't have time to get down there to view it. Best Buy just needed YPD to send them a fax on letterhead and they would release the name, address, and other info the thief gave when the idiot actually purchased an insurance plan for their electronic with MY debit card. YPD was too busy for that too. It's been a year and a half now. Nothing. :(

It sounds like the township was involved as well. If so, this it is WCSD that helps out. Must be the heat to have this record number of break ins. Is it winter yet?

Why can't this article list the exact names of the businesses that were broken into?

I think the Washtenaw one is the Lucky 7 restaurant. I saw the glass door was smashed in.

Noooo, not Lucky 7. I love their food. Find them and send them all to prison.

Is it improper to name the businesses under question? Just asking, not griping.
