Dexter Village's downtown ice skating rink in Monument Park is finally open
Ice skaters can glide until 10 p.m. tonight at the Dexter skating rink that opened for the first time this season today.
The rink, located in Monument Park, was installed in early December but all the warm weather has thwarted natural ice freezing.
The rink is open Sunday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
When necessary, the ice is resurfaced between 8-11 a.m.
According to information from the village, people skate at their own risk and safety gear is recommended. There is no skate attendant on duty and no hockey sticks or pucks are allowed.
Skaters are asked not to walk on gazebo floor with skates, and for any emergencies, call 911.
There is no trespassing when the rink is closed.
The rink was made possible by the Dexter Village Council, Dexter Parks and Recreation Commission, the Dexter Area Chamber, the Dexter Lions Club, the Dexter Rotary Club, Think Dexter First, and the Dexter Daze Committee.

I heard 40 on Sunday and rain on Monday. Go figure. Any one up for the Chelsea or Ann Arbor rink?

This is great news! We'd better get the skating in today while we can, because it looks as if it will all melt by tomorrow. I remember as a kid skating / playing hockey behind the fire station (now police/fire) in Dexter. Those were the good old days. Ahh to be a kid again...
