Fire destroys car in Ypsilanti Township
A fire destroyed a car sitting parked at a business in Ypsilanti Township this morning.
The owner of the car told firefighters he could smell something when he got out of his 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier shortly before 10 a.m. at Ypsilanti Boring Company, 1585 Beverly Ave. “Twenty minutes later someone was pounding on his door telling him his car was on fire,” said Ypsilanti Township Fire Department Lt. Keith Harr.
The car was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, five minutes after receiving the call at 10:11 a.m. They extinguished it quickly and prevented it from spreading to the building, but the fire completely destroyed the vehicle, Harr said. “There was nothing left of it.”
The car was valued at $2,500, Harr said. The fire is not suspicious, he said.

Trust that it was insured, that his insurance company will replace it.
