Fire destroys townhouse in Superior Township
A fire late Wednesday night destroyed one unit in the Danbury Park Townhouses in Superior Township and displaced the residents of two other units.
Captain Shaun Bach, of the Superior Township Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night in the 9000 block of MacArthur Boulevard. One townhouse was completely destroyed by the fire that began in the second floor, Bach said.
Bach said there was heavy fire coming from the second floor and flames shooting from the roof when firefighters arrived Wednesday night.
The Washtenaw-Lenawee Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted the two residents of the townhouse and the two other townhomes that had to be evacuated for the night, Bach said. Two people were home at each of the other two residences, Bach said.
The Ypsilanti Township and Ann Arbor Township fire departments assisted Superior Township with putting out the blaze. Huron Valley Ambulance crews were on scene, but no injuries were reported.
The occupants of the townhouse were home at the time and made it out safely, Bach said.
The investigation into what started the fire is on going.
