Line of storms moving into Washtenaw County; hail possible

The National Weather Service has issued a "special weather statement" about a line of storms moving into Washtenaw County from the west.

Hail is possible with the storms, and shelter is recommended.

The full text of the statement:

"At 311 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms along a line extending from 10 miles west of Chelsea to 23 miles west of Hudson... moving east at 15 mph. Upstream observations have reported hail as large as 0.50 inch with these storms. Convective thunderstorms will be possible through the peak of daytime heating today.

"Pea size hail and occasional cloud to ground lightning are possible with these storms.

"Locations impacted include... Lyndon Township... Chelsea... Hudson Mills... Cement City... Hudson Mills metropark... Springville... Rollin... Manitou Beach... Delhi Mills... Cambridge Junction... Barton Hills... Rome Center... Pleasant Lake... Onsted... Manchester...

"Stay away from high objects outdoors such as trees. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until these storms have passed."
