A grass-roots social media campaign, spurred by the Facebook "event" Michigan's 175th Anniversary Online Party, is getting Michiganders past and present to share what they love about the Mitten State.

The state turns 175 on Thursday, and according to an Mlive.com report, Livonia resident Lisa Diggs thought it would be the perfect time for people to share their experiences in Michigan.

You can participate by posting on Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag #Mich175, about why you love Michigan.

Loyal Michiganders also recently took social media by storm when Wisconsin used an iconic mitten image in a tourism promotion in December.
