More sunshine in store for the week's weather forecast around Ann Arbor

By AnnArbor.com Freelance Journalist

The mild, sunny conditions that make it seem like Spring has sprung early should persist for one more day before temperatures return to February form, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast calls for it to be mostly sunny Monday, with highs between 42 and 46 degrees, similar to the weekend’s balmy weather around Ann Arbor.

The sun should stick around a bit, too — even as temperatures drop to more wintry levels.

Tuesday should see partly sunny skies with a high in the low to mid 30s. High temperatures Wednesday should reach 29 degrees.

Overnight lows throughout the first half of the week should dip below freezing. Ann Arbor topped out at a high of 43 degrees Sunday, while the temperature reached 46 at Ypsilanti-Willow Run Airport.

So, lets see here, another month of 50's? I can really dig this weather and this winter, yes I can. Thanks Michigan groundhog for an early spring.

Historic average highs for this week in February are around 32ยบ F. But this recent weather is a long term thing - weeks of above normal highs and lows in January and this month so far. Adding: right now the first tropical storm of 2012 has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. It's a "little early" though: the last time a tropical storm formed in February was 1952. At that time, the National Hurricane Center wrote: "TROPICAL STORMS TO NOT HAPPEN IN FEBRUARY." - denying their own data! (caps are direct quote from the original telegram). Meanwhile, large portions of Europe are having an unusually harsh winter. Several inches of snow have fallen in Rome, Italy and winter related deaths are rising over there. Climatologist Jeff Masters blogged on this topic: Okay - this is officially nuts.

Trees are budding and birds are singing. I'll be even happier this week b/c of more sunshine!

"The forecast calls for it to be mostly Sunday Monday, with highs between 42 and 46 degrees, similar to the weekend's balmy weather around Ann Arbor." A 'Sunday Monday'? Does this mean I don't have to go to work tomorrow? Sweet!
