Ann Arbor has lots of great resale shops besides those on South Industrial

By Letters to the Editor

Your interesting article on the South Industrial resale shops (Sunday, Sept. 5, “Business thrives on ‘resale row’”) had some good points. It is too bad you were not able to include the names and locations of some of the other great resale shops located elsewhere in Ann Arbor, including the oldest of all, Ann Arbor Thrift Shop.

The Ann Arbor Thrift Shop was founded 78 years ago and is still providing not only a great shopping experience at its Washtenaw Avenue location across from Arborland, but also using all its profits to benefit residents of the Ann Arbor School District. Last year, over $161,000 went to help people referred by local social service agencies who needed assistance with expenses such as overdue rent, DTE bills, eyeglasses and other medical type bills and transportation as well as free clothing and household items.

We welcome donations of clean and gently used clothing, small household items, books and DVDs six days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are open for shopping during the same hours.
