City Council candidate Jane Lumm understands Ann Arbor's needs
This is a letter of support for Jane Lumm, independent candidate for City Council in the 2nd Ward in the Nov. 8 election.
Jane Lumm, a very talented woman, who previously served on the council in 1993-98, lives her ideals as an outstanding steward of our city’s resources. She understands the city’s budgetary process very well and willingly discusses the issues without obfuscation of facts.
In 2005, the City Council and staff began exploring ideas for alternate uses for the Huron Hills Golf Course. The budgetary figures of the golf operation given to the public did not represent the complete picture. Jane worked tirelessly, studying and reviewing park ordinances and the golf course budget so that she could inform the public of a more accurate assessment of the course’s finances.
However, her stewardship of the city goes far beyond dollars and cents. She also understands the values which make Ann Arbor a lovely city. She understands that we must protect and care for our natural environment, the open land, the beautiful Huron River, and the magnificent trees - all elements that constitute our green infrastructure. She knows that our quality of life is greatly diminished if the care and protection of the infrastructure is neglected or destroyed.
Jane Lumm truly understands the meaning of sustainability as defined by the Brundtland Report in 1987 that “Development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Take a walk in Gallup Park and observe all the young families enjoying the natural beauty, and think about how we must preserve Ann Arbor’s green future. Jane Lumm will make that a priority. On election day, vote for Jane Lumm!

Yes to Jane Lumm and to the 3 Republicans running against the other incumbents in the city council races. Although a proud democrat, I believe we need a strong change of direction on the council and these 4 individuals have shown themselves to be qualified, motivated candidates eager to correct the downward spiral that the Mayor and his cabal have taken us on.

There are few people in Ann Arbor who have donated as much of their time to make it a better place for its citizens than Jane Lumm. Rather than listing all these endeavors, I shall provide a link to her campaign website: www.janelumm.org

Even if the truth is being told, AnnArbor.com takes down any comment that is not nice and pretty.

Myra: This is a nice letter of support for Jane Lumm. I am familiar with her involvement on City Council and while I sincerely believe that there needs to be a change in leadership, neither Lumm nor Rapundalo does not reflect my concern for people who are different that she or her peers. I would love to see how her tell me and other disgruntled 2nd Warders in the current state of affairs how she would fight for our most vulnerable citizens.
