We are writing to express our support for one of the candidates in the up-coming election for the Ann Arbor School Board, Andy Thomas.

We were especially impressed by Mr. Thomas' careful and thoughtful contributions during the school board's deliberations regarding the selection of a new superintendent last March.

We attended the meeting at which the School Board made this decision, since it was open to the public. Mr. Thomas had carefully considered the records of the candidates for the position, and his comments reflected the balance and judgment that we think is critical for individuals holding such a responsible position. His contributions to the discussion were essential to the wise choice ultimately made by the board.

Mr. Thomas clearly believes strongly that our schools can be improved, even in the current climate of cutbacks. We hope that the citizens of Ann Arbor will give him the chance to continue to serve on the school board.
