Saline teen convicted in safe robbery; expected to receive 2-4 year prison sentence
A Saline teenager pleaded guilty Friday to charges stemming from a robbery at an acquaintance’s apartment.
Andrew Wszolek, 17, pleaded guilty as charged just weeks after rebuffing prosecutors’ attempts to reach a deal.
Wszolek was convicted of unarmed robbery and conspiracy to commit home invasion for the Nov. 5 heist at the Six Trails apartments. He told Washtenaw County Circuit Judge Archie Brown the victim let him into his apartment and that once inside, he intentionally allowed two other people in to help steal a safe.
One of the intruders, Josh Morris, allegedly held the resident down while Wszolek and another two pulled the mounted safe from the wall. Morris faces similar charges and is expected in circuit court for a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported. A K-9 unit led officers from the robbery scene to Wszolek’s family residence nearby.
Prosecutors said counts of home invasion, a 20-year felony, and safe breaking, punishable by up to life in prison, will be dismissed at sentencing March 9.
Bob Killewald, Wszolek’s attorney, said sentencing guidelines call for between two and four years in prison, but he said Brown is open to a punishment at the low end of the guidelines and possible boot camp.
Police never found the safe. A third man suspected in the incident has not been charged, and police said they are still investigating.

If sentencing was on March 9th, what punishment did the judge actually handout? You should try and take a story to it's end and let all of us know the final outcome. Those of us who live in the area would really like to know if these folks are in prison or still on the streets.

To Bill and Proudparent, Would this sentencwe be too extreme if it was you that was held down in your own home while 2 suspected criminals (got to watch the way you word things on AA.com) ripped your safe out of your wall?? These were 3 suspected criminals that did this to someone that was an aquaintance (I would assume friend if he let him in his home). If they'd do that to a friend, think what they might do to someone they did not know or did not care for. Are you 2 by chance related to these folks or do you work for the judicxial system--- just curious!

Sure better be more than bootcamp. But just slap their patties and release them is part of the problem with so many crimes. All this dogooders out there should take them in to live with them.

Pretty harsh for a 17 year old, given the odd circumstances. TIGERS68, should we give him life, just in case? Is it the department of corrections or the department of retribution?

Ive seen people get less time for attempted murder. 2yr sentence? A bit extreme if you ask me.

With Police still investigating, everything will come out in the wash. I know it would take an army to move my safe, so 3 guys just wouldn't make it here. I hope these guys serve their time.

So basically we don't have to worry about being robbed by this wonderful mis-guided young man for at least 2-4 years. That's GREAT NEWS for us all. Here's an idea, why don't we just let all criminals do 2-4 years and call it a day. It'll make it easier for all the lawyers and judges and it'll save us taxpayers alot of money in taxes, money we'll need to pay the insurance deductible when these wonderful mis-guided individuals rob us again.....
