Sanjay Gupta, well known as chief medical correspondent for CNN, has penned his first novel, “Monday Mornings,” on sale Tuesday, USA Today reported. TNT is already at work on a pilot program based on the novel, the newspaper reported.

Gupta, a University of Michigan alumnus will be the speaker at the school’s spring commencement ceremonies April 28, the university announced Monday. Gupta earned his medical degree at U-M in 1993 and completed his neurosurgery residency in 2000 at the U-M Health System.

The novel is a "'peek behind the curtain’ at what really happens in a hospital,” Gupta told USA Today.
