University of Michigan to study Merit Curriculum and Promise Scholarship

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Researchers from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University have received a $5.9 million federal grant to study the effectiveness of two state education programs.

The research examines the Michigan Merit Curriculum that toughens high school graduation requirements and the Michigan Promise Scholarship that funds college studies.

The U.S. Department of Education's Institute for Education Sciences is funding the five-year studies.

The work involves the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy and its School of Education; Michigan State's College of Education; and the state Department of Education.
