Washtenaw County Democratic Party unveils new website and logo contest winner

By Ryan J. Stanton

With the 2012 election season in full swing, the Washtenaw County Democratic Party has launched a new website and unveiled a new logo.

"To elect Democrats up and down the ticket, we have to be sure that we are using technology to our advantage," said Lonnie Scott, the party's vice chair for communications. "The changes to our site, as well as future planned upgrades, will allow us to do that."

The website address is www.WashtenawDems.com.

The Washtenaw County Republican Committee's website can be found at www.Wash-GOP.com.

"Our website will give people a chance to find out more about the party and become involved in the efforts we are making to elect Democrats in Washtenaw County," Party Chairman Cleveland Chandler said in a statement, noting the site includes features such as an up-to-date calendar of events, news stories and a way for people to connect with the party's leaders.

The new logo was created by Katherine de Fuccio, a Democrat from Ypsilanti, and selected over numerous other designs as a part of a logo contest sponsored by the party.

In addition to it being a presidential election year, there will be many local races for city council and county board seats on the ballot this year. Also, all state House seats are up and there are races for judicial seats and university boards.
