Washtenaw County eyes Domino's Farms parcel for land preservation program

By Steve Pepple

Washtenaw County is hoping to buy a 54-acre parcel that is part of Domino’s Farms in Ann Arbor Township for inclusion in the county’s Natural Areas Preservation Program.

Heritage Newspapers reports the parcel has been a potential location for a residential development. The acquisition of the Domino’s Farms property would allow the county to merge several areas already owned by the Natural Areas Preservation Program.

“We will have a big U-shaped preserve starting from Dixboro just south of M-14 going west and then down south connecting to the 54-acre parcel adjacent to Horner-McLaughlin,” Washtenaw County park planner Richard Kent told Heritage Newspapers

Once combined, the parklands will represent a more than 250-acre contiguous nature preserve just northeast of Gabriel Richard High School in Ann Arbor.
