Evening classes in two buildings at Washtenaw Community College were canceled Tuesday night because of issues with the water main.

The problems were isolated to the Crane Liberal Arts and Science Building and the Family Education building.

Associate director of public affairs Janet Hawkins said WCC learned the water main was not delivering water to the two buildings Tuesday evening, but the college was able to fix the problem that night.

"We canceled classes in those two buildings, but by 11 p.m. it was fixed," said Hawkins. "We were able to open today with business as usual."

Hawkins said the buildings had to be closed because of the risks posed by not having water readily available, including not having functioning bathroom facilities available to students and faculty.

WCC did a nice job sending out a text and phone call at 7:00pm saying classes were canceled for today and then sending one at 11pm saying they were not. First of all, this creates massive confusion with teachers and students. Secondly, people don't like getting phone calls and texts when they are in bed. Didn't they have another weather related blunder with their alert system this year already?

I was thinking the same thing. I was in class last night in the LA building and had to leave (not too upset about it...). Got the txt and also the website said classes are cancelled today. And then at 11pm... they are back in session. They definitely shouldn't have cancelled classes for Wednesday until the morning.
