Westbound Washtenaw intersection with East Stadium closed due to power outage
Ann Arbor police are blocking westbound Washtenaw at the East Stadium intersection due to a power outage.
Washtenaw traffic can make the "turn" and remain on that road, but cars can not proceed onto East Stadium.
The outage affects an estimated 892 customers, according to DTE Energy.
DTE Energy's web site estimates power will be restored by 3 p.m.
Traffic signals on Washtenaw north of the intersection are not functioning. Traffic is slower as a result.
The Ann Arbor Fire Department says the power outage follows a fire on a power pole between St. Francis and Washtenaw. While the cause is undetermined, the fire burned through the wooden pole and the top half fell over.

Last Saturday the intersection had stop signs in place as the lights were out.

Really? The cops would rather close the road than to simply get out of their car and direct traffic by hand? What, the Union has rules against grunt work? Last time I checked, it's "to protect and SERVE."
