Woman injured after fall from 3rd story window

By Paula Gardner

A 20-something woman was in serious condition early Sunday after a fall from a third-story window in Ann Arbor.

The woman fell from the window of a residence in the 500 block of North Main Street, according to Ann Arbor firefighters.

They were called to the scene at about 5 a.m., said Battalion Chief Randy Menard.

The victim was found on a muddy lawn area beneath the window and between two houses, Menard said.

"She was quite lucky for the distance she fell," he said. "... She missed the cement curb."

It wasn't immediately clear why the woman fell or whether alcohol was a factor, Menard said.

Firefighters assisted Huron Valley Ambulance in getting the victim to University of Michigan Hospital.

An updated condition report was not available Sunday.

It's still too cold overnight to have any windows open, and those must be good storm windows where she was, since no window plastic was covering the window she fell out of.

Wow, a battalion chief who doesn't know the difference between cement and concrete. Thought firefighters were supposed to know something about construction materials.

Wow, falling from a 3rd story window and being alive, much less only(?) seriously injured? No matter how or why she fell, she is extremely fortunate. May she recover quickly and, ultimately, uneventfully.

Or, Mike, why don't you NOT guess. Why make some comment that implies some snarky response on your part? You don't know what happened, you have no right to make these kind of comments when there is a family whose daughter is in critical condition.. I'm beginning to hate even reading articles here, it's time to close up the comment section, if only to keep people like you from making comments that can do nothing but hurt those involved.
