Armed robbery reported in an Ypsilanti alley

By Paula Gardner

Two men, one armed with a gun, ran off with a cell phone and set of keys after robbing a 23-year-old man in an Ypsilanti alley.

Ypsilanti police said the victim was walking in the 400 block of Florence — located between Depot Town and the Eastern Michigan University campus — at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday when the men approached him.

One of the men pulled out a small, black handgun and demanded the victim's belongings. The victim turned over the cellphone and keys, and the suspects left.

They're described as a 35-year-old bald, black man with a slim build and a 27-year-old white man, also with a slim build, and with brown hair.

Police continue to investigate.

Thanks for adding that EMU student information. Also, on the ages, I should have said they were "about" those ages. Those were approximate.

Paula, the EMU crime alert states the victim was an EMU student "The victim, who is an EMU student, reports that he was approached on foot by two suspects while walking in the area."

Paula, if their ages are known, it would appear that the victim knew the alleged assailants. What's the turn around time for information on these cases, usually?
