Boy accused of sexually assaulting jogger in Ypsilanti Township park
A boy described as 12 or 13 is sought in connection with the sexual assault of a jogger Thursday night in an Ypsilanti Township park.
The victim told the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office that she was jogging in an extension of North Bay Park near Grove Road and the I-94 Service Drive.
The boy grabbed her "while moving in a sexual manner," according to a news release. The woman, 40, turned and caused the boy to fall.
The boy then ran toward Grove Road.
The suspect has dark skin, and is described as possibly Hispanic or African American. He is about 5’0” tall, with a slender build. He was last seen wearing a black and red striped long sleeve shirt, black or red shorts and black and red tennis shoes with no socks.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department Tip Line at (734) 973-7711 or Deputy Krings at (734) 971-8400 ext 67290.

I wish I could start my own paper.. One that would have real news stories , headlines that truly matter to people and none of this crazy stuff that seems to be reported here. But this has also made me stop and think about a couple things..like ,are runners who have just enough on to almost cover most of the do not show body parts bordering indecent ex-poser and when they, both male and female, stretch and bend using trees and poles .. are they committing lewd acts in public? Or maybe they are guilty of sexual assault on a tree.. Ok .. the kid was rude and needs a his umm.. bottom dusted by a parent and a few lessons of proper behavior in public but assault?? please.. I put this story right up there with the 20oz bottle with a firecracker in it headlined as BOMB FOUND IN ANN ARBOR PARKING STRUCTURE!! omg. really?

What's the justification for labeling this a sexual assault? As far as I know, under Michigan law sexual assaults (classified as various degrees of 'criminal sexual conduct') require either sexual penetration or sexual contact, neither of which this story seems to allege. Is this being investigated as a violation of some other Michigan sexual assault law?

I'm amused at the attempt to report abuse on this comments, and hope Ann Arbor.com doesn't take them seriously. I've violated no rules, and trying to silence dissenting voices is the height of cowardice.

@TheGerman: And, as I made clear, that does not seem to allege the violation of any sexual assault statute in Michigan. Hence my question: Is there a Michigan law that I'm unaware of, or is the story inaccurate?

"The boy grabbed her "while moving in a sexual manner," according to a news release." Unless the story was updated after you posted your comment, you might want to try reading it actually.

we readers commenting, or not, have nothing to do with the posting of the story. Even if, hypothetically, any story has the comment section closed, the story is still readable by anyone. So i fail to see your point.

another story short on detail but just enough obtuse "titillation" to invite violations of guidelines. Save yourself the time and just close commentary now.
