Copper wire and pipe stolen from construction site in Ypsilanti Township

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the theft of copper pipe and wire from a construction site in Ypsilanti Township that occurred last week.

Work crews discovered the pipe and wires had been stolen from a job site in the 2000 block of Moeller Avenue on Saturday and believe the theft occurred sometime on Thursday or Friday.

No suspect information was available Monday, and police are still looking for information about the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711.

I have to agree with justcurious, the company must have known they could and would be targeted. It is a shame that everything out, needs to be tied or locked down. This isn't going to be an easy task for WCSD either.

Hard to believe that anyone would leave these materials unprotected considering all of the press the theft of these things has had over the past few years. The company must have known that they could be targeted for theft.
