Power outage closes Adams elementary school in Ypsilanti
A power outage has closed Adams elementary school in Ypsilanti today.
School officials asking parents to pick up students by 10:30 a.m. or provide the Adams staff with transportation instructions.”
Ypsilanti school district spokeswoman Emma Jackson said the outage was discovered too late to notify parents before the start of school this morning. DTE Energy told the district power would not be restored until late afternoon or early evening, she said.
DTE spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba said a downed wire caused the power outage. DTE's power outage map indicated 364 customers were without electricity.
The school, a science, technology, engineering and math academy, is located at 503 Oak St. in Ypsilanti.

The area of the power outage is shown in green.

"Ypsilanti school district spokeswoman Emma Jackson said the outage was discovered too late to notify parents before the start of school this morning." when is too late? in this world of technology of instant messages, cell phones, smart phones, etc? when does staff report? when did 'they' find out? i suppose the power could've went out as the kids were coming in too. just asking, don't jump on me man.

Have to agree with you dading. The DTE outage map says the power has been of since 10:16pm last night. Nobody noticed this by the time students showed up. What kind of people are teaching in Ypsi anyway.
