Three suspects arrested in connection with armed robberies in Ypsilanti Township

By Cindy Heflin

Canton Township police this afternoon arrested three people suspected of committing armed robberies in Ypsilanti Township earlier in the day.

An officer on routine patrol spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' vehicle about 3 p.m. in an apartment complex on Ford Road, Canton police said in a news release.

Canton police and detectives from Washtenaw County surrounded the apartment building. Two suspects immediately surrendered, and a third suspect surrendered about one hour later.

All three suspects were turned over to the Washtenaw County sheriff’s department.

Canton police had earlier received a request to be on the lookout for the suspects. It included a description of the suspects’ vehicle and a handgun.

Washtenaw County sheriff's department officials were not immediately available to comment on the robberies or the arrests.

It didn't say they lived in Canton. But yes, this is why YT has a bad rap. It is so big that sometimes one don't even know if they are in Ypsi, or Pittsfield TWP's. I have lived in Ypsilanti TWP, and it is just as bad or better than living in A2.
