Resident scares off would-be intruder in Ypsilanti

By Lee Higgins

Ypsilanti police said they arrested a man early this morning after he attempted to break into a home in the 900 block of West Cross Avenue.

About 12:35 a.m., the man knocked on the door, and, after getting no response, attempted to climb in through a rear window, a police news release said.

A 31-year-old man inside heard a noise at the window and saw the man, who left the property, the release said. Officers responded and arrested the 52-year-old man, who is homeless.

He was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. Charges are pending.

No place to squat, unless you are invited.

I'm sure he was just looking for someplace to squat... What with all the foreclosed and empty homes. Surely an innocent mistake.
