A compassionate passerby did not think a small, older dog should be wandering down a isolated road on its own. Her instincts were right, and when she was unable to locate the dog’s owner in the area, she brought her to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

A microchip I.D. traced the dog back to a family that lived miles away from where the pug mix was found. The owners decided they could no longer care for a 6-year-old dog and care for infant children and decided to relinquish Magda to HSHV.

We’ve come to find that Magda’s not only adorable but also very friendly and loves to snuggle with our staff and volunteers. According to her former family she likes other dogs and may enjoy another canine companion. She is house-trained and crate-trained and enjoys playing with squeaky toys and sitting on your lap. She may be getting a little grey in her muzzle but don’t let that fool you, she’s active and playful, and real darling to be around. Magda is ready to be adopted now.

HSHV is open daily at 11 a.m. for adoptions. All pets available for adoption are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations, medically and behaviorally evaluated, and they have a microchip ID all included in their low adoption fee. Please make adoption your first option.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley, located in Ann Arbor, was awarded the “Best Large Animal Shelter in Michigan” by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance, for the second time in a row this year, for saving the most lives. HSHV is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies solely on donations from businesses and individuals to support our community programs.

HSHV is not affiliated with the Michigan Humane Society or any other humane organization. The mission of HSHV is to promote responsible and compassionate care of all animals in our community.
