Michigan hockey player Chris Brown's goal among finalists for CCHA play of the year

By Pete Cunningham

The CCHA announced its nominees for play of the year on Friday, and Michigan junior forward Chris Brown's goal against Miami on Feb. 4 is one of 12 plays up for the award.

Brown put the puck between the legs of Miami captain Will Weber before going top shelf in the 3-0 Michigan win. Weber was so upset after the play he broke his stick over the goal's crossbar. Weber apparently didn't get all of his frustration out on the crossbar as he and Brown would both be ejected from the game in the third period for fighting.

Two other plays involving Michigan made the top 12, with a goal from Bowling Green's Bryce Williamson and another from Northern Michigan's Andrew Cherniwchan scored against the Wolverines up for nomination as well.

Fans can view all of the plays and vote for their favorite at CCHA.com, the winners will be announced at the CCHA awards show on Thursday, March 15.

Also up for awards that night will be Michigan coach Red Berenson (coach of the year), Alex Guptill (rookie of the year), Greg Pateryn (best defensive defenseman) and Luke Glendening (best defensive forward).
