Former Eastern Michigan athletic director Paul Shoults dies
Paul Shoults, the athletic director at Eastern Michigan from 1982 to 1987, died Sunday. He was 85.
Shoults joined the Eastern Michigan athletic department in 1977 as an associate athletic director and replaced Alex Agase as athletic director in June 1982. He was part of two national championship teams while serving as an assistant football coach at Notre Dame from 1964-77.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Welsheimer Funeral Home in South Bend, Ind. A graveside service and burial will be Saturday at Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shoults' hometown of Washington Court House, Ohio.
