By AnnArbor.com Staff

Registration is still open for the third annual Swing to Cure Diabetes golf outing to be played Monday at the University of Michigan Golf Course.

The event is hosted by former Michigan football player Rich Hewlett and his wife, Chris. The couple has worked to raise money and awareness for juvenile diabetes after their son, Jeffrey, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 12 years ago.

Current Michigan football coach Brady Hoke, former coach Gary Moeller and Cathy Schembechler, wife of former coach Bo Schembechler, are expected to attend.

The outing includes 18 holes of golf, a boxed lunch and dinner as well as competitions, prizes and gifts. Live and silent auctions will also be held.

Spots are limited to 140 golfers. For more information, visit visit www.swingtocurediabetes.com.

Not sure if anyone will see this, but sad news from yesterday. Rich's wife Chris passed away from cancer. Awesome family. Keep them in your prayers.

Great to see the old quarterback Rich Hewlett (or now better known as Richard T Hewlett) all grown up and doing great things for a great cause. Go Blue!
