DREAM TEAM

Max Benson (jr.), Pioneer: Benson had the formidable task of replacing first team All-State goalie Kevin Smith and performed admirably, earning All-State honorable mention in his rookie campaign as a starter.

Austin Daugherty (sr.), Dexter: Daugherty was a prolific scorer and leader for the Dreadnaughts. Despite facing double- and triple-teams all season, Daugherty still averaged nearly six goals per game. “He is the type of player that makes everyone around him better,” said coach Brian Semple.

Petar Djurakovic (sr.), Saline: A Serbian foreign exchange student, Djurakovic made a big splash for the Hornets. Though it took him some time to adjust to the less physical American style of play, Djurakovic scored 77 goals for the Hornets and was an All-East Region second team selection by season’s end.

Jon Geldermans (sr.), Huron: As a utility player for the River Rats, Geldermans did a bit of everything scoring 47 goals and also recording 70 steals. He was a second team All-State selection.

Kevin Gorine (sr.), Huron: Gorine was the leader of a stout River Rat defense that only allowed an average of 4 goals per game. He also scored 55 goals to go along with 57 assists and was an All-State honorable mention.

David Hasegan (sr.), Huron: The AnnArbor.com Player of the Year, Hasegan had 196 goals, 48 assists and was a first team All-State selection. Hasegan was named the Michigan Water Polo Association’s Most Valuable Player and was co-MVP of the state tournament.

Seji Osawa (jr.), Pioneer: Described by other coaches as crafty, Osawa was Pioneer’s best all-around player and leading scorer. Osawa was a first team All-State season selection and second team all-tournament selection at the state finals.
