With pink socks on in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Saline boys soccer team was in prime position to upset Southeastern Conference Red Division champions Huron - dressed in pink tops - on Tuesday night.
The Hornets led the River Rats 1-0 at halftime after a goal from Jason Carmack in the 27th minute, but Huron was able to score two in the second half to escape with a 2-1 win.

“When they want to play and understand a system, we're right there with anybody,” said Saline coach Brian Lampman. “Some of the defensive breakdowns were maddening, but they're very correctable and we'll move forward.
“While (the result was) disappointing there are some encouraging signs.”
Huron (13-2-1, 10-0 SEC) tied the game just three minutes into the second half when Ryan Embree finished on a deflected Steve Weidenbach shot.
After the River Rats had a goal on a set piece disallowed due to an offsides call, Weidenbach finished a Matt Ybarra pass in the 70th minute for the game winner.
“We never panicked we had a beautiful goal taken away. Sometimes when those things happen you tend to see shoulders drop and we did exactly the opposite,” said Huron coach Reese Richardson. “To see our guys turn it around and use it as ammunition, as a coach, is great to see.”
Both Huron and Saline (7-8-5, 5-4-2 SEC) will participate in the same district, which begins next Tuesday.
“I’m proud of our kids. They’ve faced some unique and difficult situations throughout the season and are stronger for it heading into districts,” Lampman said. “It should be an interesting ride.”
