Saline golfer Karla Gross and Skyline water polo player Blair Majeske
This week's Athletes to Know features Saline golfer Karla Gross and Skyline water polo player, Blare Majeske.

Karla Gross
Grade: Senior.
Sport: Golf.
Accomplishment: Gross shot a 7-over-par 78 at to win medalist honors at a Division 1 regional tournament at University of Michigan Golf Course last week. Saline finished second as a team, so Gross and her teammates will have the opportunity to defend their 2010 state title at The Meadows Golf Course at Grand Valley State University on Friday and Saturday. Gross has twice placed in the top 10 at the state finals -- finishing fourth as a sophomore and seventh as a junior.
Bail-out club: “If I need a straight shot down the middle, I’ll pull out my hybrid 22 degree,” Gross says.
Best shot: Gross once holed in from 150 yards out for an eagle at Lake Forest Golf Club in Ann Arbor.
Favorite course: Travis Pointe Country in Saline, where her family has a membership.
Favorite music: “Whatever’s on the radio,” she says, from Blake Shelton to Sammy Adams or Lil’ Wayne.
After high school: Hopes to attend Michigan State University, but does not plan on playing collegiate golf. “I just want to focus on school,” she says.
Coach Betsy French says: “(Gross) really picked up her game toward the end of the season. She has really picked it up around the greens.”

Blair Majeske
Grade: Senior.
Sport: Water polo.
Accomplishment: Plays defense for the Eagles, currently ranked tenth in the state by the Michigan Water Polo Coaches Association. He has tallied 11 goals, three assists and eight steals and played a crucial role in Skyline’s recent 7-6 victory over ninth-ranked Dexter last week. Between the school's swimming and water polo, Majeske has been elected captain five times.
Favorite athlete: Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps.
After high school: Plans to attend the University of Michigan to study engineering and is considering trying out for the club water polo team.
Favorite music: “Depending on my mood, I can listen to literally anything from classical to heavy metal to techno. It's a day-to-day thing,” Majeske says.
Coach Ben Dahlmann says: "His level of defense helps the whole team play better, and he’s a natural leader."
